When it comes to making successful changes in your life, it is often less about what you know and more about what you apply. One of my favorite ideas in this realm is the idea of making shifts in our behaviors. More than simply trying to “change” something, “shifting” is the practice of strategically improving the way we do things to practice a healthier or more productive lifestyle. Some times we need major shifts and other times just minor shifts are necessary but the idea remains the same. Focus on shifting toward better behaviors instead of changing bad ones.
Lately I have been following the work of Dean Dwyer, of Make Shi(f)t Happen, a blog, podcast and book. His thinking has fascinated and inspired me. Although he started off as a guy blogging about his health journey he has found his niche helping teach people how to find shifts in their life. He gets down deep into the differences between changing and shifting, to more than just, “have more willpower” and looks at practical steps, plans and mindsets that can help set up successful shifts. I just love this guy’s approach and outlook. If you want a cool perspective and some awesome ideas on how to make shift happen, check out his work. You can also listen to him interviewed on a couple of podcasts, The Fat Burning Man Show (twice), Underground Wellness Radio and the Livin’ La Vida Low Carb Show.
So much of changing our behaviors is changing how we think and anytime we can learn new strategies I’m all for it. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Thanks for reading, have a shift happening day!
