Natural Tooth Care

One of the most overlooked aspects to health is personal care and hygiene. Although this is an area I have only recently started to explore, I am quickly realizing it’s an area we should all be more conscious of. Every product that goes in or on the body (toothpaste, soap, deodorant, lotion, shampoo, etc.) ends up in the body to a certain degree. Meaning, if you are using chemical filled personal care products much of those substances are being absorbed into your bloodstream and tissues. Since we now have so many different options, common sense tells me that we should at least explore some of the more natural products on the market.

“If you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it on your body.”

Dental Hygiene
One of the areas I decided to experiment with was dental care and toothpaste. I looked into it a bit and found a few that were somewhere between the standard toothpastes and the grass roots “make it at home” recipes. I decided on Nature’s Gate (Whitening Gel Natural Toothpaste) and have enjoyed it so far. The ingredients are simple and natural and it tastes pretty good. Like most other “natural” toothpastes, the gel versions (opposed to the pastes) typically have a taste closer to what we are used to in the traditional versions.

I also came across OraWellness, a company that makes natural and organic oral care products. After checking out their website and products I ordered the Brushing Blend (a combination of essential oils) and have also used it regularly. The combination of the Brushing Blend and the Nature’s Gate toothpaste has been a very nice swap from the traditional brands I was using before.

If interested, check some of these products out or head off to a natural grocery store and see what they have to offer.

Thanks for reading, have a great dental day!

P.S. If you’re looking for a more do it yourself version, here’s a nice homemade toothpaste recipe from Enlightened Lotus Wellness.
