If It Works For You, It Works

Like most people in the health world, I offer my opinions about health. I try to share what I think, collectively, science, history and common sense tell us are good approaches to being healthy. Certainly, not everyone shares the same beliefs and there are people and programs offering different advice, but I think this is a good thing. There’s a lot of information out there and no one knows it all. When open minded people think about health and are willing to discuss it for the better of everyone, we all win. If there’s one thing that studying health has taught me other than “it depends” it’s that, the more you think you know, the more you’ve got left to learn.

On that note, a simple suggestion.

If something works for you, then it works.

Conversely, if something doesn’t work you, then it doesn’t.

No matter what I or anyone else says. No one knows you like you. You decide if something works.

We are all on a journey, most of us trying to figure things out as we go along, doing the best we know how. A health expert or a million people might say that something doesn’t work, but if it works for you, it works. So, when you find success, go with it.

If you’re still trying to find what works, keep looking. Something will work. If your health is important to you there’s something out there that works. If my blog can help, great. If it’s elsewhere, that’s great too. The bottom line for me is that you find what works.

Now, caveat time. If something works for weight loss or fitness but destroys your health, it doesn’t really work. Don’t fool yourself.

Also, if you don’t give something an honest effort, don’t automatically say it doesn’t work for you. Say it didn’t work that time or you weren’t able to do it right. Don’t let possible tools get thrown out because you didn’t give them a fair chance or learn how to use them.

But when you find something that works go get it. If it stops working find something else.

You are the only one who knows if something truly works for you and are the only one that really matters. You are the one expert you need to learn to trust.

Thanks for reading, have a great day!
