Every once in a while*, my sons ask to play with my iPad. *By every once in a while I mean almost every second of most days.
We can’t escape technology and need to keep savvy with it to keep up with this society of ours moving light speed, full steam ahead. It can also be really fun and pretty cool to play with the plethora of tech gadgets sometimes. The downside is the inactive bad posture bodies it helps create and/or reinforce. Since it seems to be a more undeniable part of life I say we work around it. This is an example of how to do it.
Every minute of play, measured in 10 minute sections, adds up and gets paid back in…
Think about it. Set the built in timer/alarm on your device and every 10 minutes your child pauses what they’re doing and does 10 burpee somersaults. Or runs up and down the stairs 10 times. It only takes a minute or two but goes a long way toward breaking up the iBody that long stretches of interrupted tech use contribute to. There are a hundred ways to imagine this scenario playing out. I say use your creativity and see what happens. Worse case scenario, your kids move around some more or play with technology less.
